“Life is full of exits.”
Marc Toomey is a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) and the co-founder of Pantheon Group, an advanced planning firm built around one clarifying idea: life is full of exits.
Selling a company, repositioning real estate, a liquidity event, a career change. Growth eventually turns into a decision. Pantheon Group helps clients navigate those moments, turning concentrated success into durable, tax-aware, risk-managed wealth that supports the rest of their lives. Marc Toomey has spent close to two decades on the part of that work most advisors underplay: managing risk, controlling the tax cost of an exit, and preserving capital as assets move from one stage of life to the next.
He holds the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation and a life and health insurance license, and works daily alongside wealth managers, CPAs, attorneys, and other advisors.
Marc Toomey founded Pantheon Group on June 13, 2023, alongside his partner Eric Palmer. The two had spent years working side by side on advanced planning cases and saw a real gap in the market: advisors wanted to serve ultra-high-net-worth and HENRY clients well, but few had the specialized support to do it. Rather than serve everyone, they went deep on what they did best.
The result is a practice defined as much by what it declines as by what it delivers. Pantheon Group is not a registered investment advisor, and by design it never touches securities, variable products, or stock trading. It works entirely in the fixed product space. When a client needs services outside that lane, Marc Toomey refers the work to a network of vetted partners rather than stretch beyond the firm’s expertise.
Pantheon Group organizes its work around three outcomes, and Marc Toomey designs every strategy to fit into a client’s broader financial plan rather than replace it.
Identifying and hedging the tax, liquidity, concentration, and personal-dependency exposures buried inside an exit.
Controlling how, when, and at what cost capital gets taxed as it moves from one stage of life to the next.
Converting growth into durable assets that support income, leverage, and legacy across market cycles.
Facing a liquidity event a few years out, positioning capital, managing tax exposure, and turning a one-time transaction into a long-term, multi-generational plan.
Meaningful assets across businesses, real estate, and investments, seeking tax-aware income, downside protection, and a clean path to transfer wealth.
Short, intense earning windows converted into lasting, flexible capital that supports life after the game.
Ask Marc Toomey what separates Pantheon Group from a typical agent, and the answer starts with a premise the firm returns to constantly: most financial planning is built around accumulation, while the biggest risks show up at the exit. Pantheon Group is built for the exit.
He is convinced the firm exists to inform, not to pressure. He wants every client to leave a conversation more empowered and better educated than they arrived. In his experience the most expensive planning mistake is not a bad product choice; it is inaction. Clients freeze because money carries emotion and they do not feel informed enough to move. Education breaks that paralysis.
Winning, in his view, looks like a tax-efficient exit of assets at each stage of life: capital preserved, tax liability managed, risk contained, and wealth transitioned so an owner keeps control even after they are gone, what he calls “control from the grave.”
Marc Toomey grew up in Newington, Connecticut, a suburb of Hartford, in a sports-driven household. Baseball ran alongside everything: his college baseball career began at the University of Connecticut’s Avery Point program, where his team climbed to number two in the nation, before he pitched at Division I University of Hartford until an elbow injury cut the trajectory short.
He earned his degree from the University of Hartford in 2008, with a combined focus in insurance, finance, and economics, and began his career at the teeth of the financial crisis. Nearly two decades later, through roles spanning insurance distribution and advanced planning, he co-founded Pantheon Group and has shared the firm’s approach on industry podcasts, including the Retirement Solutions Roundtable.
